Last week the Paper Plus presented their speeches about 'Inspring New Zealanders' to the class.  Both Ms Wills and myself (Miss Church) were EXTREMELY impressed by the quality and presentation of these.  We have many well-organised, talented, courageous and enthusiastic class members!!!   A big thank you also to all the support and guidance from parents at home....much appreciated.
A Year 5 student was selected from our class to go into the Year 5-6 Speech Finals on the Friday.  Jadah scored the hghest and so presented her speech in front of our syndicate in the library.  Tu meke to mahi (fantastic work) Jadah!  We are all very proud of you :)
the year 5 6 speckis were the best.

On Tuesday, the Paper Plus students got to see the above performance.  As you can see from the photos they were a colourful, entertaining crew.  What did everyone else think of it?  Which is you favourite photo above?

Here they finally are!  The much awaited links for our pretend 1 minute ads are below.  Some of these were shown at assembly last Friday (while most of the class were at the FLAVA Kapa Haka Festival).  Just click on the one that you would like to see to make it work....    (for more information on this see the 'Drama' post below)

If you are visiting the Paper Plus class you might notice some traffic light coloured cups on our desks.  These are to let others know how we are getting on with a task.  If green is on the top we are going well with it.  If orange is on the top we need someone to check on us.  If red is on the top we are completely lost.  If we see someone with orange or red at our desk we help them if we can or our teachers will ask to see them.  They are really helpf

On Monday the 29th of July  we started doing some art for calendars that our parents might buy.  We first looked at how a South Island artist & Monet used reflection in their paintings.  Our challenge is to create some colourful buildings from just the primary colours and reflect these in a lake.  We have made some stencils to help us and are painting with our fingers and sponges.  It's fun singing while we paint!

On monday and tuesday morning the paper plus class did maths we did a unit which was capacity. On both days we did work sheets that we had to mesure containers and see if 1L of water would fit in them.  In one group one person got a tiny container that was long and short.

Can anyone reading our blog answer these questions??
Ko wai to ingoa?
No hea koe?
Kei hea to kainga inaianei?

We are looking at ROLE MODELS this term and what attitudes role models can display.  We had to match up the word with the meaning. This group was the first finished and got them just about all right! Awesome group work and clever thinking :-)

We are learning about Fractions with Ms Wills. We got a box of Smarties and had to work out what fraction of the box was yellow smarties, pink smarties etc. Lloyd was lucky because he had 15 Smarties in his box! We got to eat them at the end :-)
